Bubba Pollard's Win Streak Ends, but Top-Five Finish Still Strong at SAS
Polalrd Eyes Start of a New Win Streak This Weekend at Pensacola and Mobile
Many short track fans were buzzing about Bubba Pollard's Deep South Late Model domination in recent weeks going into the May 21st Viper Pro Late Model event at South Alabama Speedway, but the one factor that was continually overlooked and made the streak even more impressive was the strength of the field in each of those five races.  The Deep South Late Model scene is arguably the toughest region in short track racing, so for Pollard to leave the track with the big money and trophy for five straight events is an accomplishment.

But the fields that were getting beaten by Pollard's Atlanta Thrifty Nickel #18 for the past few weeks were not going to let him do it at South Aalabama this time around, however.  Pollard's #18 was solid, but not quite solid enough to run the win streak to six, but the fifth-place finish was still a positive one for Pollard.

“We were a little off tonight," said Pollard.  "We didn’t have what I think we usually have here and then to start seventh, it’s different.  There was a good field of cars here tonight and starting seventh is really tough when you have this caliber of cars that can win.”

“He (Brandon Odom, race winner) had a really good car.  I don’t know if we could’ve gotten by him or not, but we had a right-rear tire go down with 10 laps to go.  It’s the luck of the draw, that’s how it works out sometimes.”

Pollard will look to start another win streak in his next events, back-to-back Super Late Model shows at Five Flags Speedway (FL) and Mobile International Speedway (AL) as part of the Gulf Coast Doubleheader weekend on May 27th and 28th.
