CRA released a article making a correction that Pollard was indeed the CRA South Champ - Bubba Pollard entered the first North-South Shootout at Caraway Speedway (NC) as the CRA Southern Six Pack point leader, but a collision with fellow Georgia competitor Chase Elliott took him out of the lead in the standings and relegated him to an 11th-place finish in a race that was shortened from 100 to 50 laps.
“Everybody got under Chase down there going into turn one,”
said Pollard of the incident that took him out of contention.
“I think the #25 passed him and the #67 got under him and
I was following the #67. It’s so tough to pass here and he
had to do whatever he had to do go get down. I don’t know
if he was cleared or what, but I was under him up to his door
and we just got together. When we got together, I think the
right-front shock mount broke on the lower A-frame. When
it did that, we just got hooked up and I couldn’t get off of him.
I hate it, I felt like we had a good car, a car to win. It’s
disappointing.”
With so many big shows on his calendar this time of year, it
was a tough time for Pollard to damage one of his #18
machines.
“We have our car ready for the World Crown,” explained
Pollard. “This is the car we were going to take to the
Snowball Derby, but maybe it isn’t hurt too bad and we can
get it back by then. That is the thing about these late races,
all these races at the end of the year – you want to take your best stuff to every race and everybody races hard. You take a chance in tearing things up. It’s just part of racing I guess.”
Next up for Pollard will be the 28th Annual Rheem World Crown 300 weekend at Gresham Motorsports Park November 10-13. Pollard will take part in both the Beau Slocumb Memorial 100 Pro Late Model event on Saturday night as well as the Rheem World Crown 300 Super Late Model race on Sunday.
